Despite going through their fair share of rocky times, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick have decided to work harder on their marriage in a move they're calling "conscious coupling."
RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal that Parker, 51, and 54-year-old Broderick recently bought two adjoining New York City townhomes and ditched their old home as part of the unconventional plan.
"They've had some ups and downs and they decided that separate living areas were crucial to keep them together," an insider explained.
"They'll be tearing down a wall between the town houses to make a mega mansion, but it's definitely one side for her and the other for him, with the kids having access to both," continued the source.
The couple's "bohemian approach" to marriage and having their own spaces really suits them well since "he's incredibly untidy whereas she needs a meticulously organized dressing room suite for her clothes," explained the insider.
"They still have dinner together and if the mood's right they'll have a 'sleepover,' so it's not really that they're living separate lives, more that they're treating an almost-20-year marriage with the care and respect it deserves."
