Joe Giudice may be a celebrity to the outside world, but behind bars at the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, N.J., he gets treated like anybody else.
RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that the 43-year-old Real Housewives of New Jersey star has to follow the prison's strict set of rules, which includes not video chatting with his wife Teresa, 43.
"Skype is not permitted at the Bureau's institutions," Justin Long, a spokesperson for the Office of Public Affairs at the Federal Bureau of Prisons told RadarOnline.com.
But apparently, other prisons have different rules.
"Inmates at some of our institutions are able to connect with family at home through video service technology," Long said.
Unfortunately, Fort Dix doesn't yet have that technology.
"While many of our institutions, including FCI Fort Dix, do not have this capability presently, we are in the process expanding our video services to more institutions," Long noted.
For now, Giudice is limited to communicating with his family and friends the old fashioned way.
"He will get to use the phone and email," a source told RadarOnline.com.
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Giudice is already in big trouble at the prison.
The father of four—who admitted to struggling with alcohol during his 2014 sentencing—arrived at Fort Dix "drunk and belligerent" on March 23, according to a source.
Now, insiders claim that Juicy Joe is facing the consequences for his poor choices.
Meanwhile, since Giudice checked in, Teresa has been spotted on several occasions out and about.
