Madonna's teenage son may be rebelling over his headstrong mom's controlling ways, RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal.
Rocco, who refused to leave his father Guy Ritchie's home in London to celebrate Christmas with Madonna in New York, has always lived under his mother's strict rules.
"Madonna is a very good mother, but she's mega controlling," a source close to the pop icon, 57, told RadarOnline.com. "She actively tells him what he can and can't do, who he can and can't talk to."
Though Guy's lawyer told Page Six that the 15-year-old "expressed very clearly" that he does not want to return to New York, friends of the singer insisted that the mother/son duo share a "very close" relationship.
He especially took to his mom's chosen religion, Kabbalah, a church insider claimed.
Rocco was "actively involved" with Kabbalah's New York Centre, where Madonna is a frequent attendee.
However, "some days, he acted like a typical teen— aloof," the insider said.
No matter Rocco's feelings, a New York judge ruled that the disgruntled teenager must return home to his mother before school begins in January.
"Madonna pulls the strings, calls the shots," the source explained. "She's a hawk in leather leggings."
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Rocco "ran away" from his mother's Rebel Heart tour stop in Stockholm last month following "shouting matches" between them.
"Rocco doesn't want to be with her," an insider said. "He wants to be with this dad."
