Sherri Shepherd Defends Herself Amidst Legal Battles– ‘I'm A Fighter; I'm A Survivor’

Despite going through a very public legal battle regarding the custody of her unborn child, Sherri Shepherd is keeping her head held high.

"I'm a Chicago girl – I'm a fighter; I'm a survivor," Shepherd told E!

The View co-host filed for divorce from TV writer husband Lamar Sally in May, but now he’s suing for sole custody of their child who has yet to be born via surrogate.

Even though the media have had a field day with her custody battle, the 30 Rock alum doesn’t let it get to her.

“You hope that your character and integrity will scream louder than what you can say,” she said. “So I stand behind my character and integrity.”

Right now Shepherd is busy with her 9-year-old son, Jeffrey, who is special needs. But her first husband, Jeff Tarpley, is also seeking sole custody over their son, citing alleged neglect.

But Shepherd remains positive.'

“You can't hold me down – I'm a wonderful mama."
