While you and your friends might be juice-obsessed, the results of a new survey show that many Americans are still leery of green juices. In a poll done by Jamba Juice and YouGov of 2,200 Americans, 32% reported that green juices are the ones they like the least, and 28% flat-out fear the sight of them Tweet this fact!

With cold-pressed juices flowing like water here in New York City, we were admittedly a little shocked by these findings. However, the news isn't all bad for green drinks. Jamba Juice reports that the Kale-ribbean Breeze™ smoothie, which contains kale blended with mangos, passion fruit-mango juice, nonfat Greek yogurt and chia seeds, is the number one best seller in the juice chain's Whole Foods Nutrition line.

According to a 2013 USDA report, Americans aren't getting even half of the recommended daily servings of fruits and vegetables they need, so it seems there could be room for more produce-packed drinks in our diets.

“We weren’t surprised when we learned that one-third of American adults, especially Millennials, say they are consuming more vegetables in juice than they did 10 years ago—but the fact is, they are still not consuming enough,” said Julie S. Washington, senior vice president and chief brand officer of Jamba Juice. "Green juices are a quick and tasty way to get in your produce for the day and it's way more convenient to drink three cups of greens than it is to eat them."

Thankfully the survey showed these attitudes may be changing, especially for younger juice fans. Recipes for "green monster" smoothies made mostly from green fruits and veggies have become popular staples on many healthy living sites. (Check out our video on how to make one at home!) And thanks to popular documentaries like Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead that sing the praises of veggie juice for healing from illness, losing weight, and increasing overall health, people everywhere are becoming more interested in trying out this trend.
