Weeks out from the Academy Awards, Leonardo DiCaprio has been plunged into turmoil after the arrest of the movie star's step-brother and his girlfriend on a series of drug related charges in Texas.
RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned Adam Farrar, 43, was detained by police in Collin County, Tex., on two Class A Misdemeanors last Friday for possession of a dangerous drug and theft — both outstanding warrants that were issued in Los Angeles County.
He was also nabbed on a Class B Misdemeanor of harassment by phone.
Farrar, DiCaprio’s older sibling, faces a lengthy stint in jail, if convicted.
His girlfriend, Charity Moore, was also arrested five days before Farrar. She has been charged with a slew of offenses, including three counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a dangerous drug, theft of property under $500 and a Class C Misdemeanor of a parent contributing to the child’s nonattendance at school.
Two of the charges were outstanding warrants and Moore likewise faces years in jail, if convicted.
The troubled pair has one six-year-old daughter together.
More concerning, RadarOnline.com has been told, is that the whereabouts of that child, Normadie, is unknown to members of DiCaprio’s tight-knit family.
Said one source: “Adam and Charity have been hiding with Normandie in Texas, away from the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Service, who have long been involved in their cases due to their criminal pasts. They had been staying in North Dallas. Now, no-one in the family is sure where their daughter is, at this time."
Over the last three years, Farrar has been in various courts on charges of harassment, possession of a controlled substance, driving without a license and domestic violence.
RadarOnline.com has been told that Farrar and 39-year-old DiCaprio, who is nominated for an Academy Awards for his portrayal of Jordan Belfort in this year’s smash hit The Wolf of Wall Street, have "had zero contact in recent years and do not get along. It’s a very bitter family feud.”
The brother used to be close and were often spotted attending Los Angeles Lakers basketball games together, as well as hitting the Hollywood party scene.
They grew up together in Los Angeles after DiCaprio’s mother Peggy married Farrar's father George when the Titanic star was just one.
Farrar appeared in TV series Galactica 1980, which is thought to have fuelled DiCaprio’s interest in acting.
DiCaprio’s representative was not immediately available for comment.
