There was a lot of scuttlebutt at the end of Ethan Hawke’s marriage to Uma Thurman that director Quentin Tarantino’s near-obsession with the actress was to blame but RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that as time has passed whatever bad blood existed between the pair has finally, gratefully dissipated.
A source close to happily remarried Hawke (who has known the Pulp Fiction director for 18 years) says that may be because Hawke is finally getting respect as a filmmaker in his own right.
After receiving critical acclaim for his writing of the movie Before Midnight, there are whispers that Hawke could very well land an Oscar nomination in the Best Screenplay category this year.
"Ethan has been fighting for a level of respect for years that Quentin had instantly, and right out of the box, but surprisingly, actually achieving that has mellowed him out a bit,” a source close to the actor told Radar.
“Now he gleefully talks about the idea that Quentin -- last year's winner -- could be the one presenting him with his first Oscar this year.”
So with the past firmly behind them, Hawke is looking forward to a working relationship with Tarantino.
“He's grudgingly coming to terms with the fact that they are of the same generation and shouldn't be keeping their distance from each other, despite the endless speculation that Uma and Quentin's relationship helped wreck their marriage. This is the year that Ethan moved past that."
