Dude, Where's My Money?! Ashton Kutcher Targeted By Same Cyber Thieves Who Scammed Kris Jenner
Aug. 21 2013, Published 6:30 a.m. ET
Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian weren't the only celebrities to have their identities stolen by cyber scammers Luis Flores and Kyah Green. Among their many marks, the duo attempted to rip off "Jobs" star Ashton Kutcher, according to documents obtained by RadarOnline.com.
On May 30, 2013, the documents reveal, American Express received two calls about Ashton's account. In the first, the caller claimed to be the Hollywood star himself, with the impostor providing his personal information as well as answers to his security questions to gain access to the account. (Flores and Green had obtained Ashton's social security number thanks to a hacker info-dump earlier this year.)
The caller then allegedly requested that the primary account phone number be changed to Flores' number. The caller also requested that an emergency replacement card be sent to an address in Oak Park, Illinois. Flores has ties to the area, as does Green.
In a second call, the caller requested to change Ashton's social security number to Flores'. That caller dialed form Flores' phone.
This method was nearly identical to the method that Green and Flores allegedly used to scam Kris Jenner out of more than $70,000.
