Jessica Simpson is furious at her ex-husband Nick Lachey after he made a shocking gay joke about her dad Joe Simpson, a source told RadarOnline.com.
Nick shocked viewers of Watch What Happens Live on Bravo last Tuesday night when he told host Andy Cohen, "The best thing about not having Joe Simpson anymore as a father-in-law is I don't have to play grab-ass under the table on Easter Sunday."
The singer, who was promoting a new 98 Degrees album, later admitted to Andy about his implication that Joe had touched him inappropriately, "It may not be funny tomorrow, but it is tonight."
In October 2012, male escort Bryce Chandler accused Joe of being gay and hiring him for sex. And as RadarOnline.com has previously reported, Joe allegedly lavished the 21-year-old aspiring male model with gifts, sending his wife of 34 years Tina Simpson into a rage.
According to sources, Tina also penned a secret suicide note after finding out about Joe's gay affair. Talent manager Joe has denied all the accusations. Meanwhile, however, he and Tina split up and finalized their divorce this April.
After Nick's insensitive TV comment, an insider told RadarOnline.com: "Jessica was shocked and horrified that Nick said what he said. She's upset. Nick might have thought it was funny and he got a cheap laugh, but to Jessica, it wasn't -- at all."
Nick, who is now raising son Camden with his second wife, Vanessa Minnillo, also told Cohen on Watch What Happens Live that he hasn't spoken to Jessica in "honestly, probably six years. It was like another lifetime ago."

The couple starred on the MTV reality hit Newlyweds from 2003 to 2005 but Nick said he never watches old episodes. "As you can imagine, that's not popular viewing in my house. You know, we don't sit around as a family and watch the old DVDs," he said.
Fashion Star judge/mentor Jessica, who is raising daughter Maxwell and expecting a second child with her boyfriend Eric Johnson, couldn't believe Nick had made the comments, the source said.
"Jessica was disappointed that he would even speak about her at all. It's been eight years since they were married and six years since they last spoke. Jessica doesn't feel that Nick has a right to speak about her business anymore.
"Jessica was mortified!" the source declared.
