Caesars Entertainment Group confirmed Friday that it is in negotiations with pop princess Britney Spears to perform at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, RadarOnline.com is reporting.

In a statement, the entertainment group confirmed that it is working with Spears' representatives for "a potential headlining residency at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino."

If Britney Spears' team agrees to a gig, she would join the ranks of other singers-turned-Vegas-headliners, such as Garth Brooks, Elton John, Rod Stewart and Celine Dion.

Caesars' confirmation comes at a tumultuous time for Britney as she recently split from fiancee Jason Trawick and announced that she will not be returning for a second season on The X Factor.

"Britney did her best," an X Factor insider previously told Radar. "And it's fair to say she was a lot better in the show -- and especially during live shows — than many critics had expected or predicted, but the writing was always on the wall."
