Elton John and husband David Furnish Wednesday confirmed the birth of their second son Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John, saying they're "just overwhelmed with happiness and excitement" after the 8-pound, 4-ounce boy was delivered on Friday night to a surrogate mother.
The couple told Hello! magazine the child "completes our family in a most precious and perfect way."
"Both of us have longed to have children, but the reality that we now have two sons is almost unbelievable."
The I'm Still Standing singer, 65, and David, 50, have a 2-year-old son named Zachary. Prior to Zachary's birth, the couple tried to adopt an HIV-positive Ukrainian child and his sibling, but were denied by the Ukraine government, who claimed the Candle in the Wind singer was too old to adopt and not traditionally married.
The NY Post reported on Tuesday that the same surrogate who gave birth to Zachary also gave birth to Elijah.

"Elton and David love this lady like a sister and they feel indebted to her for life," a source told the paper. "Naturally, she has been well rewarded. But her identity will never be revealed. They are over the moon."
Elton had previously said the advantage of using the same egg donor for his second child would be a biological "connection between brother and brother, or brother and sister."
