There goes the beach! Billionaire Larry Ellison has purchased his ninth mansion on a single half-mile long stretch of sand in Malibu, Carbon Beach, appropriately nicknamed Billionaire's Row.
Records show that it was Ellison who paid $36.9 million for the architecturally stunning oceanfront estate just sold by former Yahoo CEO Terry Semel.
As RadarOnline.com reported, in June, Semel listed his oceanfront estate for $50 million.
The nearly $37 million Ellison paid for the place is pocket change for the mogul. He's listed by Forbes magazine as the third wealthiest person in the U.S. with an estimated net worth of $41 billion.
Ellison has never said why he's purchased so many homes so close together He also owns commercial property in Malibu and has been equally quiet about his plans for some of them.
He also has hundreds of millions invested in other residential real estate throughout California and Nevada, and earlier this year bought 98 percent of the 141-acre Hawaiian island of Lanai.
