Taylor, 22, and Conor Kennedy, 18, showed up at his cousin Kyle Kennedy’s wedding to Liam Kerr at the Fairmont Copley Plaza hotel on Saturday and her mother Victoria Gifford Kennedy said she didn’t want the superstar singer there.
“They texted me an hour before the wedding and asked if they could come,” Vicki Kennedy told the Boston Herald.
She explained that Conor had been invited to the wedding but never sent an RSVP so when he texted her and asked if he and Taylor could come to the reception she said no.
“I responded with a very clear, ‘Please do not come.’ They came anyway. ... I personally went up to Ms. Swift, whose entrance distracted the entire event, politely introduced myself to her and asked her as nicely as I could to leave. It was like talking to a ghost. She seemed to look right past me.”
Vicki said that she did not want Taylor to detract from her daughter’s big day and said that they left the reception during dinner and then returned after the meal where they spent the rest of the night dancing at the reception.
When Taylor and Conor arrived at the wedding they apparently caused a “mild commotion in the lobby with fans asking for pictures and autographs.”
A quick Kennedy family tree: Vicki Gifford Kennedy was the wife of Michael Kennedy who died after a tragic skiing accident in 1997. Michael was the son of Robert F. Kennedy and Ethel Kennedy and the brother of Conor’s father Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Vicki is the daughter of former football star Frank Gifford, TODAY host Kathie Lee Gifford’s husband.
Taylor’s rep has denied Vicki’s on the record claims, saying she was invited to the wedding and “the bride thanked her profusely for being there.”
