Sunday's episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey took a few different looks at how the families on the show look at gay issues, as the Manzos, Giudices and Lauritas all hitched a trail to Chicago to see Caroline Manzo’s brother Jamie in a civil union ceremony with his partner Rich.

One cast member who stuck out for all the wrong reasons was Teresa Giudice's husband Joe, whose non-stop stream of homophobia seemed to put off everyone except his better half Teresa, who told viewers, "Despite what people think, Joe's not anti-gay -- we love the gays!"

In one crude instance, Joe told a story -- on a bus full of mixed company, including Jamie, who’s openly gay -- about the closest he ever came to a homosexual experience.

"When I was a kid, me and my friend were hanging out in my pool, and we're talking about whose got a bigger p*nis," Joe bragged. "We end up somehow taking our p*nis' out and seeing whose got a bigger p*nis! So now we're both lying next to each other, we both have our p*nises out like two gays, and he probably beat me like by an inch.

"Actually the kid's name was Jaime!"

Not amused, Caroline called Joe a "shell of the man I met four years ago" and "a very unhappy, troubled man who very well may have a drinking problem."

On the flip-side, viewers saw a much classier side of the Garden State when housewife Kathy Wakile and her sister Rosie, who is openly gay, got in-depth about the trials and tribulations Rosie faced as a lesbian growing up and coming out in a traditional Italian family.

"Now that she's more comfortable with who she is, we can really tell each other everything," Kathy said, later telling her sister, "You should never be afraid to be who you are -- and never be afraid that your family's not going to love you."

Later on, Rosie, came out to her niece and nephew about her sexuality, and suffice to say, the young'uns showed a lot more class than one Joe Giudice.
