A terrible tragedy has struck Glee star Charice Pempengco’s family.

The famous singer’s father, Ricky Pempengco, a 40-year-old construction worker, was stabbed with an ice pick by a drunk man after he bumped into him outside a grocery store Monday night and the man became enraged according to the Associated Press.

The murder in the family’s native Philippines appeared to be random and there was no prior relationship between the two men Senior Supt. Gilbert Cruz told the AP.

Charice, 19, wrote about her anguish on Twitter Tuesday, after cancelling a concert in Singapore with David Foster.

“I have to go back to the Philippines as soon as possible to be with my family,” she wrote, even though she was estranged from her father after her mother left him when she and her brother were young.

“I loved him and I will still love him. He’s still my Dad after all,” she added.

Charice shot to fame with her Youtube video earning over 35 million viewers and was featured on Oprah and performed a duet with Celine Dion.
