Rihanna may be living the high life now, jet setting around the world in private jets, but the sassy singer was born into the simple island life in Barbados.

And soulful singers Mariah Carey and Mary J. Blige didn’t exactly have it easy growing up, but they managed to hit the high note with their singing careers and now enjoy life in the fast lane.
