The mother of the NBA's most celebrated player was handcuffed and taken into custody at the swanky Fontainebleau resort in Miami Beach around 4:57 am ET Thursday.

Police issued a press release that said, in part: "Both Ms. James and the driver of the vehicle were initially uncooperative with the investigating officer. Ms. James was apparently intoxicated as she had bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of alcohol on her breath."

In a copy of the official police report made by the arresting officer and obtained by RadarOnline, the officer writes: "She (the driver of the car) also stated that friend, the arrestee and the valet employee got up into each other faces over the incident. I then made contact with the valet employee (victim) who stated that he brought the vehicle to the valet ramp at the request of the arrestee.  He (the valet) then drove up with the vehicle as the arrestee stood outside talking to other patrons of the hotel.

"The valet employee stated that he waited for 30 minutes and the arrestee would not get her vehicle.  Finally he turned off the vehicle, which was still on the valet ramp, and gave the keys to the valet cashier.

"After a short while, according to the victim and witnesses, the arrestee (Gloria) confronted the valet employee and stated 'Where are my f*cking keys?' and continued telling profanities at the victim, all while the victim tried to explain to the arrestee that he waited for her for 30 minutes, but could not wait any longer."

The officer goes on to write: "Then for no apparent reason, the arrestee struck the victim with an open hand across the right side of his face, and in the process causing herself to lose her balance and falling to the ground.

I then went back over to the arrestee, which by this time was outside the vehicle, and asked her for identification. The arrestee then refused to provide her identification and stated, 'Now you want my I.D.' but again would not provide it.

"I then placed the arrestee under arrest, at which time she began to yell at the other female (who was the driver) 'Don't give him anything. Don't give him my purse.'

"A large crowd then gathered in front of the hotel causing vehicles to backup on the driveway. The arrestee also had bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of alcohol on her breath. After the arrestee was placed into my patrol vehicle, at which time, I was approached by several security employees of the hotel advising me that the arrestee is LeBron James' mother.

"...While at the station (two officers) tried to speak with the arrestee who was then very uncooperative, stating: 'I'm trying to trust you, but I don't trust your kind. I don't trust the officer who arrested me.' Arrestee stated that she knew our procedures that she was not going to cooperate because she did nothing wrong.

"Arrestee would not allow crime scene to take photos of her and requested a phone call."

As RadarOnline.com was first to report, a source at the star-studded hotel told us: "The incident happened after she pulled into the hotel during the early hours of Thursday morning.

"She got into an altercation with one of the car parking valets who works for a private company contracted by the Fontainebleau.

"The police were called to the scene and she was subsequently arrested. It is not believed any alcohol was involved in the dispute."

No other details are being made available at this time, and a spokesperson from the famous hotel told RadarOnline.com that they would not be making a comment at this time.

In the hours after we first reported her arrest, a spokesperson for the Miami Beach Police Department later told us that James was issued a citation for misdemeanor simple battery and released on her own recognizance with a promise to appear in court at a later date; police did not take a mug shot of her.

Police tell RadarOnline.com that the valet was not taken into custody and will not be cited.

This is not the first time Gloria has had a brush with police: she also arrested in Akron, Ohio for drunken driving back in January, 2006.

In May of that same year, she pleaded no contest to four charges in connection with the incident. She had to perform 100 hours of community service, cough up $550 in fines and damages, and attend a class on the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.

She also caused a minor stir last spring when rumors sprouted she'd been secretly dating her son's then-teammate, Delonte West.

Meanwhile -- as for her famous son -- LeBron racked up 29 points in the Heat's 90-85 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks Wednesday night in Miami.
