Forget the Super Bowl, fans went dog wild for the 7th Annual Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet Sunday.
The furry football game has been a huge hit on the Animal Planet Channel since it premiered in 2005, and RadarOnline.com has highlights of this year's furry fumbles and tail-wagging touchdowns.
Playing on a model football field called the Animal Planet Stadium, the pooches all come from shelters and the show gives details on how viewers can adopt their favorite 'player.'
New this year was the Puppy Cam, giving a puppy's eye view of all the action. Though the game has gone to the dogs, other animals were invited to join in the fun, with hamsters at the controls of the Ice Breakers blimp and chicken cheerleaders on the sidelines. Just like any game, tail-gators - with real tails! - gathered outside the stadium.
One key player was Koda, a Siberian Husky, who ran the ball into the end zone. Little Red was one of the smallest players but he wasn't scared to stand up to the big dogs like Calvin, who's bark was worse than his bite.
An illegal bite to the back end even resulted in one scruffy terrier getting a puppy foul for illegal ruff-ness!
MVP (Most Valuable Puppy) honors went to a Shiatsu-Beagle mix who beat down the tough competition on offense, defense and cuteness.
