Pete Wentz was so blindsided by wife Ashlee Simpson-Wentz filing for divorce, The Fall Out Boy rocker was even making "surprise" plans for Valentine's Day next week.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Ashlee, 26, filed for divorce from hubby Pete, 31, in L.A. County Superior Court Wednesday, citing “irreconcilable differences,” requesting joint legal custody and primary physical custody of their three-year-old son Bronx, as well as spousal and child support.

However, just days earlier Pete told RadarOnline.com about his romantic plans.

He said, "I guess I've got to make them not online ... this will be a surprise."

Pete also told us he was enamored with Ashlee's short new 'do, calling it his favorite.

"I think it's amazing. She can rock any haircut and any style," Pete told us.

"This one's my favorite, it's my current favorite."
