Eclipse took in more than $30 million in box office sales Wednesday, RadarOnline.com has learned, as the film's distributor Summit Entertainment said it surpassed the previous all-time record set by New Moon's $26.3 million debut last November for films opened with midnight screenings.

The movie, which stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, drew hundreds of die-hard Twilight fans who waited overnight from coast-to-coast to get the first glimpse at the third installment in Stephenie Meyer's wildly-popular Twilight series.

Experts said the movie should really rake in the bucks over the upcoming Independence Day weekend, which is historically one of the most profitable times of the year for the film industry.
