Elton was right: Marilyn Monroe's candle still burns bright, as an X-ray of the late starlet's chest sold for $45,000 from Julien's Auctions this past weekend at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, RadarOnline.com has learned.
The x-ray was shot in 1954 at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital, which is now known Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Monroe was 28 at the time it was snapped.

The x-ray went well above $800 to $1,200, which is what experts expected it to go for. A chair from Monroe's final photo shoot commanded big bucks as well, selling for $35,000.
Monroe died in August 1962 in Los Angeles, California at 36 from what investigators dubbed as "acute barbiturate poisoning" in a "probable suicide.”
