Before he was flashing his abs on red carpets coast-to-coast, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino was something of an ugly duckling.

The Jersey Shore heartbreaker appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno Tuesday, and Leno had a blast from the past waiting for the MTV star: his high school yearbook photo. The picture shows Sorrentino, a magazine cover boy now, fighting what looked to be a bad case of acne and an even worse haircut -- think Napoleon Dynamite with a touch of GTL.
"I'm surprised you didn't get an acne commercial," Leno teased.

Sorrentino responded: "At that point in his career, The Situation was on the way up ... he needed a little improvement."
"You couldn't have gotten much lower!" Leno said.
Sorrentino said that he was actually a popular kid in high school, and voted “Best Body” and “Biggest Flirt” by his class.
