After waging a silent battle for the better part of 17 years, the late night fiasco of 2010 -- when NBC paid Conan O’Brien $44 million to leave The Tonight Show so Leno could reclaim it -- brought out the fangs in both Leno and Letterman, who have taken comedic shots at each other throughout the year.

"Letterman has been hammering me every night," Leno said during a January monologue on his now-defunct variety show. "Hey Kev, you know the best way to get Letterman to ignore you? Marry him. He will not bother you. He won't look you in the eye."
