An optimistic Tiger Wood rented a house near the US Masters course in Augusta, Georgia, for wife Elin and their two children but it has remained empty all week.
"Tiger rented this house right next to the one he's in and had it all set up with staff, toys, food, everything - he really wanted to see his kids during
his down-time," revealed a source close to Elin.
But Elin refused, according to the confidant.
"She's not willing to drag the kids back and forth so he can get a quick paternal hit out of seeing them," the source added.
With Tiger in contention going into Sunday's final round, it is clear that Elin is steadfast in her decision not to attend the tournament, even if her philandering husband was to achieve a stunning victory.
As RadarOnline.com has reported, the couple's marriage has been getting worse, after a brief period where they appeared to be growing closer.
Elin has not moved back in with Tiger and has a one-year lease on a house about a mile away from the family home.

ad for Nike.
Elin, 30, told friends the controversial ad brought home how much she has missed the support of her "second dad" Earl Woods since Tiger was exposed as
a serial love cheat.
A pal said: Elin was sent a tape and watched it at home she started to cry, she said the tears just started streaming.
She was surprised at her outburst of emotion, she is normally very restrained. But she really loved Earl and she misses him, "mourned" was the word she used.
"She grew up without having access to her own father all the time and Earl was very paternal and loving towards her, so just hearing his voice touched
In the advert Earl Woods who died in 2006 - appears to refer to his son's philandering when he asks: "Did you learn anything?"
But Elin is still refusing to forgive Tiger - and pressing ahead with a divorce, the Mirror said.
As more revelations surfaced this week, including the explosive revelation Tiger bedded his neighbor's 22-year-old daughter, she has distracted herself
by spending time with her father and a new friend, US tennis star Lindsay Davenport, 34.
