Janet Jackson talked about how her brother Michael’s shocking death played into her standout performance in her new film, Why Did I Get Married Too?, and RadarOnline.com has the clip for you.

Jackson plays author-psychologist Patricia in the film, and said she channeled "recent events in my family's life" in her performance. She said she also drew upon her personal experiences for the role, as many of her friends often come to her for counsel.

"She was really, really, really amazing," director Tyler Perry said. "She did a really wonderful job."

Michael Jackson’s June 25 death coincided with the filming, and Janet said that Perry was a calming influence, as he was one of the first people to call her. Perry also stopped production on the film to attend the funeral service.

“He was so there for me, in every way,” Janet said. “It was perfect, it was great.”

When asked about the Jackson family, Janet said they were doing “well.”

Why Did I Get Married Too? hits theaters April 2.
