Michael C. Hall is “kicking cancer’s (bleep)” says his Dexter co-star Julie Benz, who was killed off the show in a jaw-dropping twist of the Season 4 finale. In an exclusive video interview with RadarOnline.com, Julie, who played Michael’s wife Rita on the hit Showtime series, opens up about why Michael and his real-life wife, fellow Dexter co-star Jennifer Carpenter, kept his battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma a secret for so long, how she learned about his diagnosis and how the cast joined together at the Golden Globe Awards this year to “celebrate his life.”
Michael C. Hall And Jennifer Carpenter Out And About
“He is doing fantastic,” Jule enthusiastically exclaimed about Michael, “and it goes to show you that if you catch cancer early enough, you can kick its (bleep)!
“It was caught very early and they didn’t want to make a big deal about it,” Julie explains about Michael and wife Jennifer’s decision to keep his diagnosis a secret for so long. “They didn’t want people to worry about them.”
Julie gives insight into Michael and Jennifer’s close relationship, exclaiming “I think it’s a testament to their love that they lean on each other for support and they don’t need to lean on others.”
Julie believes that Michael’s decision to finally open up about his battle with cancer has a lot to do with a desire to educate people on the importance of healthcare.
“I do believe that with great healthcare and early detection that we can put an end to cancer. I think that’s why he came out and wanted to talk about it, because it really is about detecting it early.”
