Adding a bizarre twist to the story of Brittany Murphy's tragic passing, RadarOnline.com has learned that Britney Spears used to own the Hollywood Hills home that Murphy died at early Sunday morning.

The Rising Glen property was actually Spears' first Los Angeles owned property, Britney bought it in January 2001 through her Coastal Operatives LLC company for $2,975,000, according to public records.
