Zac Efron has taken the plunge -- and he liked it!

Don't worry ladies - the High School Musical hottie hasn't walked down the aisle... he's just talking about why he decided to bungee jump head first off a cliff over the summer.

Efron, appearing on The Late Show Tuesday night, told David Letterman: "We decided it was a good idea because if we were going to do something else - like mountain biking - there's a chance you're going to fall off and get injured," he said, then adding: "But how often does the rope get snapped?"

Responded Letterman: "Right... You look at things in a calculated fashion."

The 22-year-old hunky actor made the leap in Canada this past July, when he was shooting the drama The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud, in which he stars in the title role of a young man devastated by the death of his brother.

Efron was on Letterman to promote new movie, Me and Orson Welles, which is in theaters now.
