You've got to give Matt Lauer his props.

The Today Show anchor on Thursday used a sneaky trick ( and we liked it!) to try and get Robert Pattinson to answer the "are they or aren't they" dating question that both he and his twilight co-star Kristen Stewart keep dodging.

RPattz played it cool, answering true to everything, including that he dates non-stop, dates a co-star, got engaged, was hit by a cab, overdosed on drugs and so on.

"I actually come up with these rumors and put them out myself," Pattinson jokingly said.

He said that, despite less screen time for his character in the sequel, he feels Edward Cullen is well developed in New Moon.

"I'm glad it's true to the book," Pattinson said.

Pattinson said he had "absolutely no idea" Twilight would be a worldwide hit, to the tune of $380 million, and counting.

"I wish I could give a better understanding," Pattinson said, adding that he still feels like he's acting when he's on a red carpet or surrounded by hordes of his adoring fans.

New Moon opens Friday, November 20.
