Joel Madden and Nicole Richie wouldn't talk about their rumored recent hush-hush wedding while walking the red carpet at the Noble Awards at the Beverly Hilton on Sunday night, but inside the event (where Joel was being honored for his charitable work) Lionel Richie introduced the Good Charlotte rocker by saying: "I want to welcome him to our family and present this Noble award to a guy I love very much - Joel Madden!"

Meanwhile, Joel's brother, Benji Madden, also took the stage in a surprise serenade for his brother and told the crowd: "Joel used to like me to sing him to sleep at night as kids. He still does, but it's a little weird now that Nicole is in the picture. Just kidding, I just made that up."
Benji sang Always Love by the Nada Surf and said he chose it because, "it is one of Joel's favorite songs and I love him so much."

During the serenade, Nicole held Joel's hand proudly and gave him a hug before he took the stage to accept his award.
The Richie-Madden clan stayed until the end of the show.
