Miss California Carrie Prejean can't seem to keep herself out of hot water or follow pageant rules.

The controversial beauty queen will be a one-time host talk show Fox and Friends, hosting the 6 a.m. slot on May 27, Fox announced Thursday.  Only problem her anchor gig was not cleared by the Miss California USA pageant.

"We did not know about Carrie hosting Fox and Friends on May 27," pageant director Keith Lewis told RadarOnline.com, adding that she is supposed to clear her appearances with the organization, per her contract. "She did not ask us if she could host the show, and once again Carrie is not in compliance with her Miss CA USA contract and obligations."

Fox's vice president for programming, Suzanne Scott, was decidedly more upbeat about nabbing the 21-year-old San Diego native. She said that Prejean's appearance is slated as a one-time thing, but left the door open for more endeavors with Prejean.

"We're just using her one time to sit with the boys (show co-hosts Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade) and have some fun," she said. "She has become a national celebrity in the last few weeks, and it's a fun thing to do. It's a good way to try get a little buzz and fun for the show. We'll see what happens with it."
