Former Star reporter Jared Shapiro has just been named executive editor of Life and Style. How did the American University grad, who got into the mag business in 2003, climb the masthead so quickly? Shapiro started off his career at Us Weekly before decamping to Star in 2003, where he served as executive assistant to AMI ice queen Bonnie Fuller. (Presumably, he was one of those who refrained from urinating in her soup). After being named an editor at the magazine in 2004, he dropped Fuller for Inside TV, published a book titled Going Corporate: Moving Up Without Screwing Up, and then left Inside TV to become the News & Entertainment Director at Life & Style Weekly. This past summer, he finished up another book, this one with Perez Hilton, that looks super good!
