Crikey! RadarOnline.com has learned that dead "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin's widow, Terri Irwin, has finally moved past her husband's untimely death nearly a decade ago, and is now getting hot and heavy with fellow Aussie and her late husband's former bestie — married actor Russell Crowe!
After "several months" of secretly seeing each other, the two "can't fight their feelings any longer," and have finally decided to go public with their relationship, a source close to the couple divulged exclusively to Radar.
However, some suggest that the late Irwin, who tragically died at age 44 from a stingray barb to the chest on September 4, 2006, would not be so accepting of his wife's newfound love. Irwin was an extremely traditional man who held family values with high regard, and was very devoted to his wife Terri, 51, and to his kids Bindi, 17, and Robert, 12. He would be devastated that his wife has become "the other woman," the insider added.
And after nearly four years of separation, Crowe, 52, is still legally wed to Danielle Spencer, 47, the mother of his two sons, Charles, 12, and Tennyson, 9. Despite the lengthy split, an official end to the divorce does not seem to be coming any time soon.
"Steve was all about promoting Australian family values and healthy living," another friend of the couple spilled to Radar. "He'd be rolling over in his grave if he knew Terri was involved with a married man — even one who was his mate."
"It's very disrespectful to Steve's legacy. Both Terri and Russell have betrayed his ideals," the source vehemently continued.
And increasingly, the duo seem prepared to go public.
Irwin wrote online that she was "thinking of him," and he called her "love," in response, a source told Radar.
Additionally, neighbors near Irwin's $3.2 million Aussie home in Minima have claimed that a partially-clad Crowe was seen cavorting half-naked on her balcony. But according to a source close to Crowe, they're a perfect match.
"Russ made a real effort to be there for Terri and the kids over the years, helping them through their grief," a family friend insisted to Radar.
"Along the way, their mutual affection turned romantic. It was only a matter of time before they fell in love."
Sources say the relationship heated up around the time when Bindi started performing on Dancing With the Stars in the U.S.
"They just got to the point where they couldn't fight their love for each other," the source said.
Crowe landed agent meetings for Terri and Bindi and advised them concerning their break into showbiz.
Terri and Russell were talking on the phone for hours "and it all blossomed from there," the insider declared.
"None of us are surprised they've taken things to the next level."
