No Backsies -- President Obama Cannot Revoke Bill Cosby's Medal Of Freedom But Hints At Comedian's Guilt
Following today's speech, President Barack Obama spoke out about the definition of rape and whether or not he would be revoking Bill Cosby's Medal of Freedom.
Cosby has been accused of rape by over a dozen women, and now there is a public outcry calling for Obama to revoke the Medal of Freedom that he was awarded by George W. Bush in 2002. "The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest award bestowed on civilians for their contributions to society," one WhiteHouse.gov petition wrote. "Bill Cosby does not deserve to be on the list of distinguished recipients."
But today, Obama said that there was little he could do to take back the award that was given by his predecessor. "There is no precedent for revoking a medal -- we don't have that mechanism," he admitted.
While he declined to comment specifically on the allegations against Cosby due to the ongoing possibility of litigation, he did make it clear how he felt about drugging women to have sex with them. "If you give a woman or a man for that matter without his or her knowledge a drug and then have sex with that person without consent, that's rape." This comment comes days after court documents surfaced, revealing that Cosby admitted to acquiring Quaaludes to give to women that he wanted to sleep with.
