Nicole Kidman's estrangement from her two oldest children has been difficult for the actress — and now, life is imitating art!
In an interview with Town & Country magazine, the actress revealed that her new film, Lion, is deeply personal because it mirrors her own family.
"I can see now, for Lion, that it was important to me because I'm a mother with adopted children," Kidman said of Isabella, 23, and Connor, 21, whom she adopted with first husband, Tom Cruise. "This movie is a love letter to my children."
"My character Sue is deeply maternal and full of unconditional love, which is beautiful," the 49-year-old continued. "That's why I wanted to do it. I relate to that. I feel that for my own children who are adopted. It's not about anything else other than 'I wanted you.' It's that deep and personal, and whatever your journey is, I'm here to love and support you. That's what I connected to."
As RadarOnline.com readers know, Kidman's family fell apart following her divorce from Cruise, as sources say the actor's involvement in the church of Scientology ultimately caused their children to turn on her.

"They probably on half a dozen occasions would make derogatory comments about Nicole," former Sea Org member John Brousseau once revealed. "On one occasion, Connor and Bella were both telling me how they had recognized that she's an SP and I remember thinking at the time, 'Wow, they were coerced into this thinking.'"
Sadly, the estrangement seems to have continued into the kids adult years.
Kidman was reportedly banned from her own daughter's 2015 wedding to husband Max Parker.
