At least five people are dead and several injured, including children, after a gunman attacked a Tehama County elementary school Tuesday morning in northern California, Radaronline.com has learned.

Jeanine Quist, an administrative assistant with the Corning Union Elementary school district, confirmed that no one at the school was killed but that a "number" of students were shot and wounded.

"I know that we have Medevaced a number of students," Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnson said in a statement.

The shooting took place around 8 AM and the school was cleared by 10 AM, according to Sheriff Johnson.

About 100 law enforcement officers are on the scene investigating at least seven different crime scenes in the area relating to the shooter, Sheriff Johnson revealed.

The shooter was killed by police, reports stated.

"It's a really sad day for us in Tehama County, really," Johnston said.

A motive for the shooting had not yet been determined.

Governor of California Jerry Brown released a statement.

"Anne and I are saddened to hear about today's violence in Tehama County, which shockingly involved schoolchildren," Governor Brown said. "We offer our condolences to the families who lost loved ones and unite with all Californians in grief."

Story developing.
