Charleston Massacre Suspect Dylann Storm Roof's Own Father & Uncle Turned Him In To Police, Cops Say

Dylann Storm Roof's own family identified him to police as the Charleston massacre suspect, RadarOnline.com can reveal.

In Charleston Police Department documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Detective Richard Burckhardt claims that the troubled 21-year-old's father and uncle called authorities after the then-unknown suspect's photos were released to the public.

They "positively identified the defendant and his vehicle as those they saw in the photographs," Detective Burckhardt stated in an affidavit. "Further, the defendant's father told investigators that his son owns a .45 caliber handgun."

Casings from a .45 gun were recovered from the scene of the crime, records add.

RadarOnline.com can identify Roof's father as construction company founder Bennett Roof, 52, of Columbia, South Carolina.

Roof is believed to have shot and killed nine innocent worshipers in a historical black Charleston church on Wednesday evening.

He was caught in North Carolina on Thursday, and was taken into custody.

In a sick move, he smirked through his extradition this morning.

As RadarOnline.com exclusively reported, the high school drop out was arrested for possession of drugs including cocaine and meth earlier this year, and was later arrested for trespassing near a local mall.
