Charlie Sheen told Dr. Oz that he was sober for 11 years prior to his HIV diagnosis, in an interview that aired Tuesday afternoon — but could he be bending the truth?

Sheen was diagnosed four years ago, meaning he claims he was sober up until 2011. However, in October 2010, the actor, now 50, notoriously went on what the New York Daily News called a "booze and blow binge" at the Plaza Hotel.

The paper claimed the Two and a Half Men star admitted he had been drinking alcohol and using cocaine before cops found escort, Capri Anderson, naked and cowering in a corner around 1:30 a.m.

Sources say Sheen was taken to a nearby hospital, accompanied by none other than ex-wife Denise Richards.

One of the actor's reps later told Us Weekly that Sheen was hospitalized after experiencing "an adverse allergic reaction to some medication."

But the Plaza hotel incident was just one of many. Earlier in 2010, Sheen expertly avoided jail time, attending a Malibu rehab facility instead.

The initial arrest occurred on Chirstmas Day of that year, after the Wall Street actor allegedly held a knife to then-wife Brooke Mueller's neck on vacation in Aspen, Colo.

Now, the famed bad-boy has seems to have changed his tune amid revelations of his HIV diagnosis.

During his intimate sit-down on the Dr. Oz Show, Sheen shared his plans to serve as an avid spokesperson for the HIV-AIDS community from now on.

"I hope in my abilities to do something really positive with this," he told show host Dr. Mehmet Oz.

It may be a tough road ahead, however. As RadarOnline.com exclusively reported, the star — so far — has spent more than $200,000 to battle HIV.

"I said to my mom, 'This disease picked the wrong guy,'" he told RadarOnline.com's Dylan Howard in late December. "If anybody can fight this thing and discover a cure, it's me."
