Billy Bush is fighting his suspension from the TODAY show, but an insider told RadarOnline.com that he cannot count on the support of his co-stars, Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb!
According to a network insider, Gifford, 63, and Kotb, 52, "never really seemed to like Billy to begin with," said the source, noting that some people on set saw him as more of a "red carpet reporter" than a serious journalist.
"Aside from that, Kathie and Hoda are fiercely protective of Matt and Al," the network insider claimed, referring to the diva duo's male counterparts, Matt Lauer, 58, and Al Roker, 62.
According to the source, Lauer and Roker have not hidden their distaste for Bush, with Roker even tearing him apart on-camera following the Ryan Lochte Rio scandal.
"So when the tape leaked on Friday, Kathie and Hoda were among the people who wanted Billy suspended," the source told Radar, adding, "They were instrumental in NBC's decision."
And when the decision to take him off air indefinitely came down, the source said, "They were practically jumping for joy!"
A separate TODAY source insisted, "This is not true. Kathie Lee and Hoda had a good relationship with Billy."
As previously reported, the drama started when an audio tape leaked last Friday that featured Bush and Donald Trump making nasty and lewd remarks about women while seated next to each other on an Access Hollywood bus in 2005.
