Lisa Ling returned to The View Friday and opened up about her miscarriage this past summer, saying she “felt more like a failure than I’d felt in a very long time.”

The 37-year-old journalist said she’d had an uneventful pregnancy until seven weeks in, when she and her husband, Dr. Paul Song, received the horrible news of the miscarriage.

“We actually [hadn't] been trying that long,” she said. “I don’t know that I took it as seriously as I should have because it happened so fast.

“But then when I heard the doctor say there was no heartbeat it was like bam, like a knife through the heart,” Ling said, admitting it left her “devastated.”

Ling, trying to get something positive out of the experience, said she’s started a Web site named secretsocietyofwomen.com for women to communicate about issues they might be afraid or embarrassed to discuss otherwise.
