Brandon Adams, the man currently behind bars and accused of kidnapping Party Of Five star Jeremy London, would never have forced anyone to do drugs, say friends who know the Palm Springs local.
RadarOnline.com was first to break the story Thursday of the bizarre ordeal surrounding London and leading to Adams’ arrest. London claims that a stranger helped him fix a flat tire and then kidnapped him, forcing him to smoke drugs, buy alcohol and then distribute it. Adams was arrested and charged with numerous offenses.
But we spoke exclusively to a couple who know Adams and live in the same apartment building, and they said they believe Adams would do drugs with the actor, but absolutely reject the notion he would FORCE London to do drugs.
“I don’t believe it,” a neighbor – who wished to remain anonymous – told RadarOnline.com about the charges Adams forced London to smoke drugs
“Brandon probably was doing drugs WITH that actor, and the guy just said he was forced to smoke because he knew drugs were in his system.”
That sentiment is shared by many as RadarOnline.com’s exclusive story became part of the national dialogue with people questioning why someone would force London to do drugs.
The neighbor, who also told RadarOnline.com that Adams goes by the name “Smiley,” said his friends knew he was in jail and were trying to get him out.
Adams is being held on $500,000 bail at Larry D. Smith correctional facility.
When asked if Adams regularly did drugs, the neighbor declined to comment but did tell RadarOnline.com, “I know he does drink… a lot.”
RadarOnline.com broke the story that the Mallrats star was robbed, held at gunpoint and allegedly forced to smoke drugs on June 10.
Palms Springs police have since confirmed the story and issued a press release with more details about the investigation.
Adams is 6-foot-1, 175 pounds and 26 years old. He was arraigned June 15 and charged with kidnapping, robbery, and possession of stolen property, vehicle theft and carjacking.
Police added: “Enhancements for the use of a firearm during the commission of a felony have been added.”
Palms Springs Police Public Information Officer Melissa Desmarais told RadarOnline.com that London, 37, was attempting to change a flat tire on his vehicle and said that two men stopped to help him around 2 pm Thursday, June 10.
“He told officers (during the kidnapping) that he was forced to smoke dope and then purchase booze and hand it out in a gang area of Palm Springs,” Sergeant Steve Douglas from the Palm Springs Police Department, told RadarOnline.com.
Sergeant Douglas said London was forced to smoke “dope” — crack cocaine or amphetamines.
London managed to escape early the next morning but police would not give more details.
London’s car was later found at Adams’ apartment building and police say there was no damage.
“Detectives are following up on all leads and trying to get this case to the District Attorneys office as soon as possible,” Desmarais told RadarOnline.com.
Jeremy has a twin brother Jason, who is also an actor.
