Are Obama Waffles Racist? Well, Not Against White People

A couple of fellas in Franklin, Tennessee, had a dream: a dream of playing on hurtful racial stereotypes in an effort to make money and advance the campaign of Republican presidential candidate John McCain. To that end they developed a food product called "Obama Waffles." They claim that the product—which prominently features a caricature of a dark-hued Obama with puffy, slobbery lips, and gleaming white teeth staring lustily at a pair of delicious, butter-adorned waffles—is simply their way of expressing the idea that the Illinois senator changes his position on the issues, but some remain skeptical. Still, it's probably better than their original idea to sell a line of chocolate snacks with an 88 percent cocoa content (to match Obama's liberal voting percentage) called "Darkies."
