Chip and Joanna Gaines failed to pay their property taxes, RadarOnline.com has learned!
The Fixer Upper couple was hit with a lawsuit for "the collection of delinquent property taxes" in 2012 for taxes dating back to 2010. They owed two sums of $12,238.06 and $12,334.55 to the City of Waco, Texas and to Waco Independent School District.
The County of McLennan, Texas, later hit them with an additional $3,546.57 bill.
Chip, 41, and Joanna, 38, were given until February 2013 to pay off their debts.
A judgment on February 21, 2013 showed that Joanna still owed $11,254.39 on her Bosque Road Magnolia store, and $3,489.49 on her Magnolia Homes office.
Chip owed $6,999.83 on one of his homes, and the couple owed $5,617.04 on a home they were fixing up as well.
They owed $7,772.53 to the City of Waco, $13,440.70 to the Waco Independent School District, $6,147.52 to the County of McLennan and $175 in title research fees combined.
The suit was dismissed on April 9, 2014 when they paid off their debts.
RadarOnline.com previously reported that the couple "scrambled every month" before scoring an HGTV deal. Chip was even arrested for failing to pay "something like $2,500 in tickets" shortly after the birth of their first son Drake, 11.
Now, the couple charges other couples for their TV time so they can afford to purchase and open their own breakfast restaurant.
