Catfish's Ashley Sawyer passed away over the weekend, and RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned her untimely death may be related to a possible drug overdose.

Hoover Police Officers arrived to the 23-year-old's Alabama apartment at approximately 12:16 am, Public Information Officer Chuck McDonald told RadarOnline.com in a statement.

"Arriving officers found a white female unconscious with bystanders/witnesses performing CPR," McDonald revealed. "Officers attempted to revive the female with the Automated External Defibrillator (AED), to no avail."

Medics administered Narcan in an attempt to save her life, which is used to treat overdoses. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

An autopsy was conducted later in the day, with speculation the death "may be related to a drug overdose, possibly heroin."

Sawyer appeared on the MTV reality show in 2013 to meet Michael Fortunato, who she spoke to online for seven years.

The two remained friends after meeting with the help of hosts Nev Schulman and Max Joseph, as they catfished each other by lying about their appearance.

A month after the episode aired, Fortunato passed away from a pulmonary embolism at the age of 26. Sawyer said during the Catfish catch-up special that they "loved each other."

She also revealed that she had been struggling with drug addiction and was residing in a sober living facility.

Joseph tweeted of her passing, "Shocked and saddened by the death of Ashley Sawyer. So sweet and kind. Thoughts and prayers go out to her family."
