Dying Val Kilmer is lifting his spirits by indulging in art splurges amid his two-year battle with throat cancer, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.
“Art is taking his mind off his health," a source reveals. "He’s drowning his sorrows in paints and brushes, stencils and metals and sculptures."
The rooms of the ailing actor's house is said to be filled with his unusual creations. "His style is described as contemporary abstract and colorful pop art."
"It’s a way for him to get through the day without talking since his voice is a thick inaudible rasp,” says the pal.
Kilmer recently confessed he'd undergone chemotherapy to cure his throat cancer crisis. However, as RadarOnline.com previously reported, the devout Christian scientist was reluctant to come clean about his health, until his ailment became evident, and his voice began to fail. Kilmer, 57, continually told reporters that his faith was what was keeping him alive – yet it seems modern medicine played a great part in his recovery as well.
This past May, Radar reported Kilmer’s cancer could have begun to spread through his entire body – even doctors feared he could be killing himself.
In August, however, he made a surprise appearance in Arizona, prompting fans to believe the actor was getting better after all.
Meanwhile, Val Kilmer was recently spotted sitting in a wheelchair during a bizarre outing in Los Angeles.
