Tiger Woods On DUI: 'Alcohol Wasn't Involved'

Tiger Woods has spoken out on his DUI charge over Memorial Day weekend, blaming an "unexpected reaction" to prescription medicine for his arrest.

"I understand the severity of what I did and I take full responsibility for my actions," Woods said in a statement Monday evening. "I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved. What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn't realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly."

Apologizing to family, friends and fans, he added: "I expect more from myself, too."

"I will do everything in my power to ensure this never happens again," Woods concluded.

Meanwhile, Woods' girlfriend, Kristin Smith, reportedly "went crazy" when she found out about his arrested while shopping in Dallas, Texas. According to the Daily Mail, she began crying: "I knew it, I knew it."

As RadarOnline.com reported, the famed athlete was arrested on charges of driving under the influence early Monday morning in Jupiter, Florida.

Woods, a Jupiter Island resident, was taken into custody at 3 a.m. on Memorial Day.

Palm Beach County Jail records indicate Woods was released from the Palm Beach County Jail at 10:50 a.m. on Monday morning.

It's another scandal for the fading golf star, 41, who cheated on his wife Elin. She divorced him after multiple women revealed details of his sordid sex life with them, as RadarOnline.com has extensively reported.

According to a RadarOnline.com source, Woods is rapidly aging — worn down by nagging injuries and the infamous sex scandal that caused Elin, mom to his two kids, to divorce him in 2010.
