Before she turned royal, Meghan Markle was a doting daughter and actress hoping to make a name for herself despite her humble past. Now, as the Duchess of Sussex, she no longer speaks to her own father amid a nasty family feud.
As RadarOnline.com readers know, the former Suits actress married Prince Harry in a ritzy London ceremony on May 19. While her mother Doria Ragland was in attendance, her father Thomas Markle was unable to make the world-famous event due to an emergency heart surgery.
While Meghan, 37, sent out a statement saying she was worried about her beloved dad's health, she quickly shut him out of her life for good. According to the Mexico resident, Meghan hasn't spoken to him since her wedding day!
In a recent interview, Thomas, 74, said the royals are making Meghan treat him in a way that Princess Diana would have "loathed."
According to former royal butler Paul Burrell, however, Lady Di would have actually advised the star to "freeze" out her outspoken dad following her wedding to Harry, 33.
"Diana would have tried to mediate between Thomas and Meghan at first. However, as Thomas has continued to drip-feed stories and hurt Meghan, Diana would have cut him out. If you overstepped the mark and betrayed Diana, you were frozen out. I have no doubt she would have told Meghan to do the same," he told Closer.
RadarOnline.com readers know Thomas has embarrassed his daughter more than once in the months after her wedding. The former lighting director has given various interviews revealing secrets about his relationship with Meghan and Harry, as well as exposed details about their political views, and given details about the royal family. He also staged a photo shoot for himself in order to revamp his image.
Princess Diana had a similar issue with her mother on the final months of her life. At the time, Frances Shand Kydd shared details about their relationship to the public, even after the royal asked her not to. Lady D then iced her out, and they never reconciled.
"Diana would understand how Meghan feels," added Burrell. "For now, he needs to stop emotionally blackmailing Meghan. She won't comment, she will take the moral high-ground. If Thomas just shuts up, one day the phone will ring."
Thomas recently said he'd rather die than be ignored by his own daughter, whom he's always supported and loved so deeply.
