The move comes as Strahan continues to battle fellow former sports superstar Alex Rodriguez for airtime at the alphabet network.
As RadarOnline.com reported, ABC stunned Strahan when they named A-Rod a contributor to Good Morning America without his input.
"Michael was irate," a source told RadarOnline.com. "He immediately felt threatened that Alex is being groomed to replace him.".
Meanwhile, Haines, 40, echoed her new co-hosts excitement with a post on Instagram.
"Ahhhhhhhh!! Not even sure I can find the words to adequately express how excited I am to sit next to @michaelstrahan as we embark on this new journey at @GMA," she wrote. "It is (and has been) a dream of mine for a LONG time.
It's bittersweet though as I leave @theviewabc, a place I have called home for the past couple years."
Haines went on to thank her fans and expressed her love for her View family.
The new GMA Day premieres Monday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. EDT / 12 p.m. central and Pacific on ABC. It replaces The Chew, which was recently canceled amid star chef Mario Batali's sexual misconduct and rape allegation.
