Jan. 4 2019, Updated 10:05 a.m. ET
Mel B tried to take her own life twice by overdosing on pills, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.
The fomer Spice Girls singer wrote about the two shocking cries for help in a manuscript for her upcoming memoir, Brutally Honest. Mel, 43, claimed in the manuscript that she was 14 when she first swallowed Anadin Plus pills.
Then, in 2014, at the age of 39, the X Factor judge claimed she overdosed on 200 Anadin pills, and had to be rushed to the hospital.
Although the troubled singer doesn’t explain the reasons behind her first overdose, Mel remarked how quickly her life returned to normal while she lived in the same house as her parents.
The second overdose, however, was due to the misery she felt while married to ex-husband, Stephen Belafonte, she claimed. In a series of dramatic passages, Scary Spice describes how she looked at herself in a bathroom mirror as she put each pill on her tongue and swallowed them.
The aftermath of the hundreds of pills the singer had taken left the helpless star pleading for help. She called a hairdresser friend who came to her aid, she described.
Mel’s friend then erratically dressed her up in order to fool the paparazzi outside of her home as she was brought to the emergency room. She was transported to a hospital where her stomach was pumped and she was hooked up to IVs.
As RadarOnline.com readers know, the troubled star returned to a live taping of British X Factor days after the terrifying suicide attempt. At the time, sources told RadarOnline.com it had not been an intentional overdose. Mel’s X Factor co-workers and viewers observed bruises on her body on live television.
Mel is currently locked in a nasty custody battle with Belafonte over the custody of their daughter, Madison, 7. On Aug. 31, she agreed to submit to random drug tests administered by the court.
Also in the unreleased manuscript, Mel revealed details of her secret cocaine addiction, RadarOnline.com reported.
To add to an unfortunate series of tragic events for the television judge, Mel B was recently accused in court of not calling Madison on her seventh birthday.
