That Was Fast! John-David Duggar and Abbie Burnett Get Married
Feb. 25 2019, Updated 11:34 a.m. ET
John-David Duggar married his girlfriend Abbie Burnett after a quickie engagement typical of his famous reality TV family! The happy couple walked down the aisle on Saturday, November 3, and shared their big day exclusively with Us Weekly.
"We are so excited to be married!" John-David and Abbie told Us. "It was a beautiful moment and we so appreciate our friends and family for sharing this day with us. Most of all we are thankful to Christ for bringing us together. This is going to be an amazing journey!"
But the fast wedding will cause chatter as the two just announced their engagement in July, one month after they started publicly "courting."
As RadarOnline.com readers know, John-David's sister, Joy-Anna, married her husband Austin Forsyth after a shotgun wedding scandal. Joy-Anna was accused of having sex with Austin before their wedding.
The Duggar daughter, now 21, gave birth to her first child, a boy, by Austin on Feb. 23 of this year after having wed him on May 26, 2017. Also, John-David's brother Josiah, 21, married Lauren Swanson, 18, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas on June 30, 2018 amid shotgun wedding rumors.
Now will John-David and Abbie get busy with babies? They certainly shared lots of PDA before their wedding, as RadarOnline.com has reported.
John-David and Abbie told Us Weekly after their engagement, "The proposal and the ‘yes’ really solidified that we want to spend the rest of our lives together. It was a special moment to share together."
"One of the most amazing things about following Christ is being able to trust Him to direct your path and lead your life,” they added. “We are so thankful that He led us to one another."
John-David, 28, who works in Arkansas law enforcement and is the twin brother of Jana, got married late by the conservative Christian Duggar family standards. He's known Abbie, 26, for several years but they became close this year when the reality TV star visited her native Oklahoma for a church event.
They "fell in love very quickly," John-David has said. Their wedding special will air November 27 at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
